As part of the government's commitment to transform the UK's sports facilities and get more people active, I am pleased to announce that London Road Sports Centre and Montgomery Waters Meadow (Shrewsbury Town Football Club) have, between them, been awarded funding of £251,491 to improve their facilities. Shrewsbury Up and Comers F.C based at London Road Sports Centre have received £1,491 for new goal posts and Shrewsbury Town in the Community have received £250,00 to improve their changing rooms at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
More than 1,700 new and improved multi-sports grassroots facilities across the UK are benefiting from £68 million from the Government, encouraging people to get active by participating in sports. Helping people get active is key to delivering on the priority to cut NHS waiting lists by encouraging people to live healthier lives and become more engaged in sport.
