I know that many people are anxious to get the vaccine as soon as possible, either for themselves or loved ones.
- please don’t contact the NHS to seek a vaccine, your GP will contact you;
- when you are contacted, please attend your booked appointments; and
- please continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus and save lives.
This weekend (9/10 January 2021) some eligible patients in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin have started to receive a letter from the NHS nationally inviting them to book an appointment for their Covid vaccine at a large vaccination centre. These letters are being sent to people to receive their first dose of the vaccine, who are aged 80 and over and who have a postcode that indicates they live within 45 minutes of a centre.
Please be reassured that you do not need to travel outside of the county to receive your vaccination unless you choose to do so. Locally we already have two Hospital Hubs and several local sites delivering vaccinations, with several more coming into place during January. Therefore Local health professionals will continue to inform people that they can and will receive their vaccination at a site as close to home as possible, but should wait to be contacted.
The latest information on the vaccine rollout programme can be viewed on the NHS and Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group websites below:
