I am pleased to announce that Transport Secretary Mark Harper has confirmed that the government will fund the full cost of the North West Relief Road following the Prime Minister's announcement that funding from cancelled HS2 link will be redistributed to support local transport projects.
I welcome the Prime Minister's announcement that he would be cancelling part of the high-speed rail line and instead diverting the £36 billion earmarked for local transport projects in the North and Midlands.
I am pleased to report that the government is to invest a further £1,490,492 in bus services across Shropshire. This additional funding to Shropshire Council will mean that our area has benefitted from a total of £2,980,984 in funding to support bus services since 2022.
