Once again we have a flood warning for Shrewsbury. River Severn is rising again and the Environment Agency has issued this flood alert warning this morning:
Flooding is possible - be prepared
River levels are forecast to rise at the Crew Green river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Shrewsbury to Upper Arley. Locations that may be affected are White Abbey, Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. River Severn at White Abbey. Predicted Peaks are based on forecast rain, Thursday 21/01/21:- Crew Green 5.9m to 6.4m, Montford 5.7m to 6.25m, Welshbridge 4.0m to 4.5m, Friday 22/01/21: Buildwas 5.5m to 6.0m, Bridgnorth 4.5m to 5.0m. Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high for several days. Our incident response staff have erected temporary flood barriers at Frankwell and Ironbridge. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses This message will be updated 4pm this afternoon, 20/01/21, or if the situation changes.
