£50m for Flood Prevention

Flood prevention for Shrewsbury remains a top priority.  The River Severn Partnership has received government funding to enable schemes that will alleviate flooding and make the Severn, Wye, Warwickshire Avon and Teme the most vibrant and resilient river network.  Flooding not only affects quality of life, it has a massive impact on local economies and the natural environment.  I will continue to work with government ministers, local councils and water authorities to reduce flood risk.

Flooding in Shrewsbury - Finding a Holistic Solution

Once again the River Severn has flooded causing large parts of Shrewsbury to be under water.  Shropshire Council’s highways teams are working around the clock to close roads and car parks and make sure people who need them have sandbags to protect their homes and businesses.
