Daniel presses Council on vital ‘Meals on Wheels’ service

During Shropshire council’s consultation on the ‘Meals on Wheel’s’ service, the Towns MP Daniel Kawczynski has written to the Council, asking them to interact with the current service providers and urging adequate funding for the scheme.

Commenting on the consultation, Daniel said ‘ the consultation must be aware that meals on wheels provides a very valuable service for some of my most vulnerable constituents, and I would not want to see any change that would jeopardise this.’

‘The consultation should look to interact closely with the current service deliverer, WRVS, in order that they are not only aware of the current policies that the Council are implementing, so they can offer their informed advice that comes from the experience of organising the service’

Commenting on the financial aspects of the service, Daniel further commented ‘Whilst I am acutely aware of the stringent times the Council budget faces, reflecting the poor state of the national economy, this is a vital service that as well as being managed correctly, must be funded adequately. The most vulnerable should not be made to pay for the run down economy the Government has inherited from Labour.’
