Local McDonald´s serves up a treat for Daniel

Daniel tries out the fast food industry in a local branch of McDonald´s

Daniel got a behind-the-scenes taster of life in a local business last Thursday during a tour of the Meole Brace McDonald´s restaurant.

The tour, which took place on Thursday 27 August, was hosted by franchisee Bob Beckett, who owns and operates the Meole Brace restaurant and employs around 100 people.

The visit offered Daniel the opportunity to learn more about Bob´s business. It included an account of a typical working day in the restaurant, together with an insight into McDonald´s social coaching initiative, which has made significant inroads in the Meole Brace area at helping to tackle anti-social behaviour by giving young adults a footballing chance that they’ve never had before.

Daniel commented, "I am delighted that I have had the opportunity to see first-hand how a restaurant franchise is run and to view the business from the other side rather than from a customer´s perspective. I was amazed by how much is involved.

"I was particularly keen to hear more about McDonald´s social coaching initiative, it´s a ground-breaking initiative involving coaches, community workers, the local franchisee and the police, and it´s having a real impact in the Meole Brace area."

Bob added, "The restaurant staff and I were really enjoyed this visit. We hope that Daniel left knowing a lot more about our operation and the many changes we have implemented over recent years. As a franchised restaurant, we are essentially a local business and are committed to helping the local community and the environment, as well as developing our staff."
