Daniel welcomes the introduction of free swimming
Daniel welcomes the introduction of free swimming for under 16s and over 60s.
A new initiative has been launched to get people more active by introducing free swimming. In support of this, a fund of £140 million has been made available to local authorities across England to offer free swimming to the under 16s and over 60s. Ultimately the aim of the project is to extend free swimming to all by 2012.
Daniel, a great believer in the positive benefits of physical exercise, who ran the London Marathon in 2007, raising thousands for his local hospital, welcomed the introduction of free swimming.
Daniel has been working closely with Carolyn Downs, the Chief Executive of Shropshire County Council, on this initiative and has encouraged her to apply to the fund. Daniel commented, "this is a brilliant opportunity for my Constituents and I hope that the local authorities in Shrewsbury and indeed throughout Shropshire, can work together to secure free swimming for all".
