Emergency Phone Call Errors - Daniel Steps in

Daniel met with the CEO of the West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Orange Government and Public Policy Manager this week.

Daniel, Anthony Marsh, CEO of the West Midlands Ambulance Service, and Aleyne Johnson, the Orange Government and Public Policy Manager, met on Tuesday in the House of Commons to discuss the situation regarding emergency phone calls and their transfer to local ambulance base stations.

The meeting was arranged in light of a recent incident in Arscott where a woman had to be transferred to hospital by car because the 999 call was transferred to the incorrect ambulance base station where staff did not have sufficient knowledge of the location to direct the ambulance to the incident.

Daniel Kawczynski said, "the meeting was positive and useful in establishing a way forward which will stop a dreadful incident like this from ever happening again".

The meeting decided that information would be gathered in order to review where certain masts are directing calls to, to ensure that these are the most appropriate stations for the majority of calls made to that mast.

Daniel is closely following the review of the information and has promised to publish the conclusions of the analysis and to explain the action that will be taken next as soon as possible.
