Daniel continues to seek help for RAPRA pensioners

Daniel met on Tuesday with the Chief Executive of the Pension Protection Fund, Mr Partha Dasgupta.

Daniel met on Tuesday with the Chief Executive of the Pension Protection Fund, Mr Partha Dasgupta.

The meeting focused on issues concerning the RAPRA pension scheme. Daniel was keen to see what progress had been made with the situation and to make sure that everything possible was being done to ensure that all Constituents involved were looked after properly and that all enquiries had been dealt with effectively.

Mr Dasgupta assured Daniel that all 324 members of the Rapra 1972 Staff Employees Pension Plan had transferred to the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) and would be receiving compensation from the Fund. More specifically, those retired before the company went into administration (or receiving a spouse, dependant or ill-health pension) have been receiving compensation from the PPF at the level paid by the scheme when the company went in to administration. Those below the normal retirement age of the scheme when the company went into administration will receive 90% of their accrued pension, subject to an overall cap of £25,000. Members have received a welcome pack from the PPF, including a personal letter from Mr Dasgupta and details of their compensation entitlement when the scheme transferred to the Fund in February this year.

Daniel commented, "it was a very useful meeting. The necessary assurances were made and the information I wanted was provided. I strongly urge anyone who still has any questions on the situation to get in touch with the PPF".
