Daniel's working week
The activities that Daniel carries out in Westminster are listed, with brief descriptions, on the webpage called 'what Daniel does in Westminster'.
Daniel's working week typically consists of being in London from Monday morning to Thursday evening and back in Shrewsbury on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
He does, of course, spend some of his weekends with his family, but does spend much of his time in the Constituency working in the office, visiting Constituents and attending local meetings, events and functions.
He is regrettably unable to accept every invitation he receives, but does spend a high proportion of the time he spends in Shropshire on a wide range of public duties.
As has been said before: "being an MP is not a job, it is a way of life".
Daniel's job description
Members of Parliament do not have a job description as such. Indeed, being an MP is very much not a nine-to-five job and takes up many evenings and weekends as well as weekdays. MPs in effect write their own job descriptions and are accountable to their Constituents, who can choose not to re-elect them at the next General Election if they do not believe their MP is doing a good enough job for them. (Each MP does also have to be re-selected by their local political party before each election, so has to do a good enough job to satisfy them as well.)
Although there is no job description, MPs are bound by a Code of Conduct throughout their public working life. Click here to read an extract from the Code of Conduct.
